FTF videos: QNX and EtherCAT

Okay, here's a test. What, exactly, is an EtherCAT? Is it:

  • A beatnik with his head in the sky?

  • A feline that has inhaled too much anesthetic?

  • An industrial-strength form of Ethernet for real-time and safety-critical systems?

Among other things, they show how QNX's adaptive partitioning technology ensures that mission-critical processes always get enough CPU time — even when other parts of the system are doing their best to hog the CPU:
